What is Botox?

'BOTOX' (Botulinnum Toxin Type A)is a natural substance produced by a bacteria, it is then purified and highly refined before being used in therapeutic doses, to reverse the signs of aging. It has been used cosmetically for more than 10 years and is also used to treat certain medical conditions in the UK for over 20 years. It s injected into a specific facial muscle, where it acts as a relaxant.

Which system do you use?

Here at Davies and Associates, Dr Asha Dwarakanath uses the Azzalure® system. It is a licenced product but must be prescribed following a consultation appointment.

When will I see results?

Azzalure® usually takes about 2-3 days to start working, although for the full effects to be seen this may be a little longer. The speed of action will depend on the strength of your facial muscles and your individual response to the injection. Azzalure® can reduce the severity of lines for up to 4 months.

Are there any side effects?

Some people to experience mild side effects following treatment, any reaction is usually minimal, temporary and relates to the injection itself as opposed to the actual product.

What will my treatment involve?

On the day of your treatment, any make up will be removed and your skin will be disinfected. Dr Dwarakanath will then study your facial muscles to see how they work, as individuals can differ.

The injections should be painless but if you are nervous, and anesthetic cream can be used prior to the injections.

To treat frown lines, Azzalure® is injected with a fine needle above and between your eyebrows, this treatment will last around 15 minutes and you can then return to your usual daily activities immediately afterwards.

Asha will then tell you how to look after your skin following treatment.
